Electronic books sound like a futuristic phenomenon or something from a sci-fi movie. 
The thought itself may even seem intimidating to those who still consider themselves to be computer illiterate. But the fact is, that E-books are creeping their way into our society and life, and how the public reacts to this technology may determine the future of written literature. It is not surprising therefore, that a great amount of attention, both positive and negative, has been placed around these books and what the technology could accomplish. My opinion is that E-books will slowly infiltrate society, eventually replacing much of the printed text as we begin to rely on the electronic medium for our literature and information.

 HOW TO PEZIFY YOUR POWER POINT!

Starting from a template
When you create a prezi, you can choose from a number of reusable templates or a blank canvas. When you decide to use a template, you can edit everything you see on the canvas. You can also copy and paste content from other prezis or applications.
Navigating the canvas
Getting around your prezi canvas couldn’t be easier.
Zooming
This is a key feature of Prezi, so naturally we made it simple. You can zoom in and out by using your mouse’s scroll wheel or by clicking the + and - symbols on the right of your screen.
Panning
To move your prezi canvas left, right, up, or down, hold down the left button of your mouse and then move in the direction you want to go.
To get an overview of everything you've added so far (both in “Edit” and “Present” mode), use the Home button on the right hand side of your screen. You can find it just above the zoom + and - buttons. Clicking the Home button before you start making a prezi will also ensure that you're starting from a centered overview.
Adding text and images
Prezi currently supports the Roman alphabet and Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters. For information on changing the language, please click here. Select Insert from the top menu to start adding images from the web or your computer.
Getting to know the Transformation Tool
In Prezi, the Transformation Tool is your best friend. Once you add anything to your canvas, click on it once to bring up the Transformation Tool. Now you can move, size, and rotate your content any way you like.Click here for more on the transformation tool.
Framing your content
Frames are a signature part of Prezi and a great way to manage your content. They work like slides and can be used to group your ideas. Use frames to create a placeholder in your prezi and then add content to them. You can change the color, shape, size, and position of a frame, and once you add a frame to your prezi’s canvas, all the content inside it will move, size, and rotate to your desire.You can also use frames to add animation to your prezis.
Customizing your prezi
Use the “Customize” sidebar to set the colors and fonts of your prezi.You can also create branded Prezi themes by adding your exact company colors to the wizard. Pro, EDU Pro, Enjoy, and EDU Enjoy license holders can even add their own logo to a customized theme.
Inserting layouts
Prezi has created both single and multi-frame layouts ready for you to drag and drop right onto your canvas. Just click Insert from the top menu and then make your selection.
Adding symbols and shapes
Click Insert and then select the “Symbols and shapes” icon at the top of the screen to add shapes, lines, arrows, and more to your prezi.
Insert rectangles, circles, and triangles to frame your content, or add symbols or drawings from a huge library to further enhance your prezi
Adding URLs to your prezi
To put live links into your prezi, copy and paste the desired URL into a text box. Then click away from the text box and your link will become active (you will see it automatically underline).
Editing your path
When presenting your ideas, it helps to have a clear narrative that takes your audience through your prezi. With the Left Sidebar, you can create a journey from one idea to the next. Edit your path and its points in “Edit” mode and take your audience along that path in “Present” mode.
To set your path, click the Edit Path on the left side of screen. Then click on the objects in your prezi canvas in the order you wish them to appear.
You can also use the sidebar to rearrange and delete path points or to zoom to a specific path point.
“Borrowing” from other prezis
On the Prezi Explore page you can find loads of great prezis from which you can “borrow” content, animations, or even sound effects. Reusing content is a great way to get started with Prezi and allows you to share your ideas more effectively.
To use content from another prezi, first select a reusable prezi you like from the Explore page, then click Save a Copy to place a copy of the prezi in your own prezi library. From here you can open the prezi and start adding your own content. Alternatively, cut and paste the elements you like into one of your own prezis.

7 Tips for Learning English through Film and Movies

1. Choose an interesting movie. This probably sounds obvious, but if you choose a boring movie, you’ll be bored. And if you’re bored, it will be difficult to pay attention…for more than one and a half hours!

I remember when I was a child, I had to watch hours and hours of really old movies like “Singing in  Rain”, “Mary Poppins” to learn English. If you don’t know these films – you’re welcome to check them up – they’re really old! I didn’t exactly hate them, but I didn’t feel excited at all when watching these films.

And because of that, I highly recommend you choose movies you like. To do this, you can go to a website called Rotten Tomatoes, which is a website with many great critics and reviews on many tens of thousands of movies.

2. Select a movie that matches your current English level. For example, for beginners in English, I usually recommend you learn English through animations.  The main reason is because the English is usually very friendly, nice and easy to understand.

On the other hand, if you try to watch something like “Romeo and Juliet”, you will be very confused. Shakespearian English (which is English used many centuries ago) is very difficult to understand on screen, even for advanced English learners.

3. Bring your dictionary. Maybe I’ll add point 3.5 too – choose a film with subtitles! So when you hear a word you’re interested in, check it up! Because you went through the trouble to understand it…you’ll be able to remember that word for a long time too!

4. Repeat short phrases! Some times, you might hear something cool in the movie. For example, some short phrases, or slang like, “hell yeah!”, or “sure thing”, or “you betcha!” that are commonly used in English. If you like how it sounds, it really helps to repeat it! After saying it out loud a while, you will be able to remember it for a longer time! It’s a great and enjoyable exercise – one of my personal favourites.

5. Without subtitles. I know it can be really challenging to watch a film in a foreign language without subtitles. So here’s my recommendation. When you watch a film the first time, just turn on subtitles. But if you get the chance to watch it a second time, try turning off subtitles.

This way, you already know the story from the first time you watched it. And this time, you can try listening to some individual words that you might have checked up last time. Or you might try to see how much you can understand the film without subtitles.

6. VLC player. This is actually a video player I recommend for watching films on your computer. This is one of my favourite tools. Most people use it just to watch movies, but I use it a little differently.  (And if you don’t have it, you can download VLC player, it’s free.)

Here’s what I do – if you download a movie online, and you play it, you know how you don’t understand English sometimes? VLC Player allows you to play back movies at half speed or quarter speed. So if there are parts you don’t understand, you can play these back at a slower speed and try again! It’s very helpful to practice your listening.

7. It’s okay to miss words…just let it go. Last of all, remember what we said in the start? Watching movies should be fun…so if you miss a word, a phrase, or even many sentences, that’s okay! Just follow along the subtitles and learn that way. Don’t make yourself feel bad…watching films is supposed to be fun!

What are ICTs ?

Recently I've got a lot of questions on my post about ICT. So, I decided to discuss this topic a little bit. Here you have some advantages of using the ICT:)

What are ICTs?

The Board of Studies in its cross-curriculum content requirements has embedded ICT into the English syllabus as follows:

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) content in English enables students to develop and apply skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT in their composing, responding and presenting, and as part of the imaginative and critical thinking they undertake in English. The ICT content has been incorporated into the content of this syllabus to ensure that all students have the opportunity to become competent, discriminating and creative users of ICT and are better able to demonstrate the syllabus outcomes of English through the effective use of ICT.

Skills include:

• importing images and graphics into folders and documents
• formatting documents
• desktop publishing using graphics in a multimedia presentation or webpage, evaluating appropriate layout and design principles for a specific audience.

The use of ICT in the English classroom extends beyond its motivational value to address key outcomes of the syllabus, and allow students to become competent users as well as consumers in English.

Research suggests that incorporating ICT into the English curriculum can:

• improve writing and reading skills
• develop speaking and listening skills
• support collaboration, creativity, independent learning and reflection (Becta,2003a, Becta,2003b, VTC,2003) (cited in Becta 2005)

As an interactive and collaborative medium, ICT allows responding, composing, and publication to be easily shared and offers students the opportunity to explore the language of texts more creatively and develop as speakers, writers and readers for an ever widening range of purposes and audiences. ICT can enable students to:

• access information and respond to a widening range of texts
• organise and present information in a variety of forms
• broaden the range of audiences for their work
• compose a widening range of texts for a broad range of purposes
• compose for real audiences. ICT can support them in their choice of genre for audience and purpose.
• identify key characteristics and features of text
• develop understanding of language and critical literacy (Becta,2006,ICT in the Curriculum)

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STUDENT PORTAL” with interactive activities on “Nature and environment” topic for children of 9-11^th grades. So, there are 4 subjects: air pollution, chemicals, climate change and water pollution. I think that is the best website, containing a lot of educational, well-compound and interesting games! There you can also find links to presentations, some videos and even experiments!

Good morning, guys! Today is a perfect day to practice your English! I want to share with you such an interesting interactive exercise ;)

 Practice Food and Drinks ESL English Vocabulary using this Catapult Game. This game is also excellent for classroom teaching. Teachers can engage students in a classroom vocabulary review for elementary ESL, EFL Learners.
